Chef Evangalene teaching sourdough starter care
why i made my live starter into a dehydrated kit

This is where your sourdough journey begins—one feeding at a time.

I made Cora for the person who wants to grow a real sourdough culture at home, not skip straight to a shortcut. She arrives dehydrated and ready to wait for you. When you are ready, you add flour and water, follow the guide, and learn the rhythm: feed it, watch it, and give it time to become strong.

I see Cora as a beginning, not an overnight loaf. If you want to learn with an already-developed live culture and hands-on instruction, I recommend the sourdough bread class. If you want to build your own culture, this kit gives you the tools and the first step.

Dehydrated Sourdough Starter Kit in Albuquerque

I built a beginner-friendly sourdough starter kit with dehydrated starter Cora, activation guidance, a bread recipe, and a wooden spatula to help you begin your own sourdough culture at home.

Meet Cora. I made this dehydrated sourdough starter kit to give you the starter, activation guide, bread recipe, and wooden spatula to begin growing your own sourdough culture at home. Cora is a sourdough starting point for sourdough lovers and home bakers, but building an active starter takes time, regular feedings, patience, and attention.

Quick Overview 🥖

Meet Cora — my dehydrated sourdough starter kit made to help you grow your own sourdough culture at home.

I included a shelf-stable dehydrated sourdough starter, step-by-step activation guidance, and the tools to begin your sourdough baking journey. Cora is for anyone who wants to bring a little sourdough magic into their own kitchen.

Cora is not an overnight-results product. She arrives dehydrated and shelf-stable, not as an active starter ready to bake with immediately. Activating and growing a strong sourdough culture requires flour, water, regular feedings, observation, and patience. Your timeline and results will vary depending on your feeding routine, flour, water, temperature, and kitchen environment.

Once activated and properly maintained, your dehydrated starter can become a living sourdough culture you can feed, maintain, and bake with again and again. That transformation is the part I want you to experience.

Starter Kit or Bread Class?

Choose the bread class if you want to learn with an already-developed live culture. My sourdough bread class includes a live culture and hands-on instruction, so you can learn the process with an active starting point. Choose Cora if you want to activate, feed, and grow your own culture at home over time.

What's Included

  • Dehydrated sourdough starter named Cora
  • Step-by-step activation guide
  • Sourdough bread recipe
  • Wooden spatula for mixing and feeding
  • Beginner-friendly instructions to help you get started

Why You'll Love It

I made this kit for people who want to grow their own culture. Cora is shelf-stable before activation, easy to store, and a thoughtful way to start or restart a sourdough routine at home.

Best For

  • Home bakers who want to grow their own culture
  • Sourdough lovers
  • Gift giving
  • Baking baskets
  • Holiday gifts
  • Friends or family who want to learn bread baking
  • Anyone willing to give sourdough the time and attention it requires

How to Use

When you receive your kit, I want you to follow the included guide to activate Cora with flour and water. With regular feedings, your starter can become active, bubbly, and ready to use for sourdough bread and other sourdough bakes.

Do not expect to bake immediately. Your starter must become active and strong enough for baking first, and that process takes time and can vary from kitchen to kitchen.

How to Order

Add this kit to your cart and complete checkout online.

For local pickup, follow the pickup instructions shown at checkout. For shipping or delivery availability, check the options shown at checkout or visit the top of the shop page or homepage for current ordering details.

Important Note

Sourdough starter is a living culture once activated. Results can vary depending on feeding routine, flour, water, temperature, and kitchen environment. Follow the included instructions and give your starter time to wake up and strengthen.

I share free educational sourdough blogs for general guidance. This kit does not include one-on-one coaching or individual starter troubleshooting, and I cannot provide individual troubleshooting for a culture grown from this kit.

Chef Evangalene’s starter-storage lesson

How long does Cora stay shelf-stable?

Before activation, Cora is a dehydrated, shelf-stable starting point—not a live culture that needs feeding right away. I recommend keeping the unopened starter sealed and dry until you are ready to begin. Once you add flour and water, Cora becomes a living culture, and the storage, feeding, and timing rules change.

Before activation · shelf-stable

Keep Cora sealed and dry until you are ready to begin. I do not recommend activating it before you have time to feed it.

Start when you can feed it

Once you add flour and water, plan for regular feedings, observation, and patience instead of expecting an overnight starter.

After activation · living culture

I recommend following the included guide for maintenance. Your culture’s pace will depend on flour, water, temperature, and feeding routine.

My move: read the included guide before adding water, mark your first feeding, and let the starter show you when it is gaining strength.

This is general education, not individual starter troubleshooting or a promise of a fixed activation timeline. Follow the included guide for this kit’s storage and activation steps.
